    JOB SUMMARY AND MISSION

    Starbucks is seeking a highly motivated accountant I to join the Corporate, Capital & Lease Accounting team. 

    This team supports corporate treasury activities, compensation, fixed assets, intangibles and leases, among many other areas. The team supports and provides oversight to international markets for several subject matters and works in close partnership with Finance performing analyses in support of the monthly close process, quarterly earnings and the company’s SEC filings.This is a unique role with exposure to a variety of areas, primarily in Capital and Corporate accounting. Accordingly, we are seeking someone highly motivated, with an ability to flex to different areas of responsibility, with an eagerness to learn and build relationships. This position, with oversight, is integral to Starbucks success by ensuring the accurate and timely completion of moderately complex accounting functions, supporting key internal controls, maintaining one or a combination of accounting, budget or cost systems and preparing financial reports and analyses. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles and values.

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

     - Maintains accounting records. Prepares accurate journal entries and account reconciliations that are compliant with company policies and applicable accounting principles with supervision. Provides information for the production of financial statements.  - Assists in maintaining various systems and processes in area of responsibility. Supports implementation of process improvements as outlined by management. Provides feedback regarding implementation requirements.   - With guidance, prepares accurate and timely reports for assigned business unit(s) or department(s) to support company accounting, reporting and forecasting cycles. 

    • Researches and provides timely, accurate and complete responses to routine questions from customers. 
    • Highlights issues to management based on results of analysis. 
    • Participates in and provides support to cross-functional teams. Conducts analyses as needed to support project objectives. Participates in other projects and assignments as needed to support the goals of the department.

     

    SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE 

     - Bachelor’s degree preferred; degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred. 

    • Experience or aptitude to work with business intelligence and reporting tools. 
    • CPA candidate preferred

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS   - Basic Microsoft Excel skills. 

     REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills. 

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effectively communicates to individuals at various levels of the organization in a clear and concise manner. 

    • Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines. 

    • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively in a fast paced environment, while exhibiting exceptional attention to detail and continuously driving process improvements. 

    • Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word.

     - Displays initiative, has the ability to improve processes and document work performed.
