Job Description
Public Works is launching newly developed Apprenticeship Programs to fulfill our commitments to developing career pathways and our agreements with Labor Unions and the City while meeting State and City requirements. These programs aim to provide comprehensive training and development for apprentices across multiple job categories, ensuring they gain the skills and experience needed to excel in their roles.
Under the direction of leadership, the Apprentice Coordinator will demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills, with experience in training and development programs. Demonstrating a commitment to fostering a safe, productive, and supportive learning environment for apprentices is essential.
This role provides a critical link in ensuring Public Works meets its goals of workforce development and operational excellence.
** Important and Essential Duties:**
As a Street Environmental Services Operations Supervisor 7281, Apprentice Coordinator your duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience as a supervisor (with a full range of supervisory duties) of a group of
workers engaged in street environmental services activities in the public right of way (streets, medians, and sidewalks) including manual and mechanical street cleaning, graffiti abatement, enforcement of applicable codes, laws, and ordinances, and litter and debris removal.

Possession of a valid driver's license.

Valid Driver’s License: Applicants must possess a valid State of California driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit them from legally performing the essential functions and duties of the role.

The selection process will include an evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements. Depending on the number of applicants, the department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate the qualifications of candidates. If this becomes necessary, only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the department will move forward in the recruitment process.
Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ):
Candidates may be required to complete an MQSQ as part of the employment application. This MQSQ is designed to obtain specific information regarding an applicant's experience in relation to the Minimum Qualifications (MQ) for this position. The MQSQ will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications.
