SALARY: 47,717.00 - 59,646.00 SalaryUSD JOBSUMMARY: Under general direction, plans, develops and implements the Parks and Recreation Volunteer Program and provides administrative support to the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Park & Recreation Board. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: -Ability to provide administrative support to the Director of Parks & Recreation such as research and prepare professional level reports, correspondence, presentations, and special projects for management level staff.Ability to manage the schedule of the Director and manage project timelines.Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with departmental and/or City policies. -Ability to plan, promote, and organize the Parks and Recreation Volunteer Program.Ability to develop and implement volunteer strategies and maintain public contacts in the community and public/private sectors.Ability to develop and implement informational programs to promote public awareness of the volunteer program by making public appearances and designing marketing campaigns utilizing a wide array of media. -Ability to recognize volunteer opportunities and motivate staff and volunteers. Ability to coordinate, maintain and evaluate records related to the volunteer program participants and programs and the Departments asset tracking system. -Ability to represent the Department on various city-wide committees.Ability to respond to, review, route and monitor citizen complaints or concerns received through email, mail or phone.Ability to provide support to the Park and Recreation Board. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: -Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and to maintain confidentiality with frequent access to highly confidential information and files MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: -Knowledge of business administration -Knowledge of City and departmental policies and procedures. -Knowledge of team leadership techniques and continuous process improvement principles and techniques. -Skill in interpersonal relationships, time management and communication (written and verbal). -Skill in recognizing project opportunities. -Skill in motivating staff and volunteers. -Skill in promoting programs to the public through public speaking and an array of media. -Skill in preparing professional level reports, memoranda, letter, etc. -Skill in communicating with citizens, elected and appointed officials, City departments, employees, and the public through effective oral and written means. -Ability to devise and implement Park Partner volunteer recruitment strategies. -Ability to organize information, analyze data, initiate and follow-through on projects. -Ability to plan, coordinate and implement departmental special events and volunteer recognition -Ability to evaluate effectiveness of volunteer opportunities and make improvements -Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment. Qualifying Education and Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration or equivalent education, experience and training. Two years of related experience or combination of experience and education. A thorough background check will be performed.
