This position's responsibilities are to monitor, manage and schedule city community centers and/or park facilities, staff facility, complete financial transactions, schedules programs and rentals, set-up/breakdown, clean-up, manage open play programs and activities while effectively communicating with the public in providing excellent customer service. Other related duties include but are not limited to: Will open and close facility to include evenings and weekends; supervise and coordinate the operation of the facility to include staff and open for free play programs, internal and external facility reservations, registrations, memberships, instructional, water playground, senior and athletic programs. Provides customer service to a diverse population that meets the expectations of the City's Customer Service Initiative. Interacts with the public in person, by telephone, and electronically while following set customer service standards. Assists visitors and provides public with information concerning facility and City operations. Monitors and supervises adjacent exterior facilities to include courts, playgrounds, water playgrounds, parks, athletic fields, parking lots, open fields, etc. Conducts facility tours. Serves as lead on site supervisor responsible for ensuring applicable rules and policies are followed. Supervises staff including interviewing, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling and disciplining as appropriate. Reviews and approves work hours, time off requests, develops and maintains work schedules of assigned personnel. Maintains personnel related records. Assists independent contractors with programing and participant customer service opportunities. Responsible for the oversight of facility revenue collections and deposit reconciliations. Ensures written reports and incident reports are completed. Follows proper accounting procedures followed by reviewing all accounting related work processed by center staff. Documents and presents solutions to address variances and errors, may perform complex calculations. Supervises and ensures time records are complete and accurate. Works with accounting team to implement work methods and quality controls for finances. Uses computer daily, utilizing Microsoft Office and ActiveNet software for reports, letters, spreadsheets, registrations and flyers. Assists in creating marketing strategies for programs including brochures and flyers. Maintains appearance enhancements such as decorations, bulletin boards, landscaping, hallways, etc. Maintains inventory records and assists with budgeting and the purchasing of recreation equipment, materials and supplies. Responds and submits written reports of accidents/incidents that occur in and around facility/surrounding grounds. Reports on facility, grounds and equipment safety concerns. Handles accidents and injuries, will perform basic first aid. Resolves conflicts among participants in a calm and orderly manner; report behavior issues to management and parents. Conducts facility and grounds inspections and performs general maintenance to game, fitness and building equipment. Submits workorders and requests for service for facility and grounds repairs, safety and maintenance issues, and follows through on work orders to completion. Will assist with and oversee routine custodial duties to include cleaning restrooms, showers, floors, kitchen, equipment and trash pick-up/disposal inside the facility and surrounding grounds, fields and parking lots outdoors. Sets up and breaks down tables/chairs, volleyball standards, basketball goals, portable bleachers and must be able to independently lift 40lbs. Meets regularly with Supervisor and other departmental personnel to coordinate center operations. Required Qualifications VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL: Require bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports/Recreation Administration, or a closely related field. SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. Requires CPR and First Aid certification within the first year of employment. Also, should be Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist eligible within one year of service. Based on assignment, may be designated as an unarmed special conservator of the peace. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of one year of full-time equivalent experience. PHYSICAL AND DEXTERITY REQUIREMENTS: Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis, and routine keyboard operations. ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS: The job risks exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, and traffic. SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, depth perception, and texture perception. Preferred Qualifications Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment; effectively communicate with the public. Experience using POS systems, and ActiveNet software. Some experience in developing polices & procedures and training staff. Previous cash handling and transaction processing experience. Advance skill level in customer service. Knowledge of certification, licensing, permit and compliance requirements, and policies related to child care programs and recreational activities. Educational requirements can include a bachelor's degree in Business Management or Public Administration. Special Instructions to Applicants May be assigned to work any community center or park facility location at any time including nights and weekends. Must be available to work departmental and city wide special events and activities. Night and weekend work are part of regular schedule. Background check and post offer screenings required. Works special events and rentals that will require working many evenings, weekends and some holidays beyond normal business hours. Events may be held at various facilities located within the City, as well as, other parks and neighboring locations.
