PM* *Subject to Change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS This
individual will provide basic maintenance and repair to structures,
facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and clean environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: * Primarily perform clean-up/ maintenance of the
outside area of the HFD warehouse, with a focus on the maintenance of
our retired hose and equipment program. This includes the rolling,
packing, and palletizing of the very heavy fire-fighting house. All
retired and/or stored material worked must have accurate documentation.
- Maintain all other retired equipment (outside) in an orderly and
documented manner. The equipment is to be prepared for disposal through
PDMO, Sister City program, or the Texas Forest Service. * The outside
environment will be cleaned every day to be rid of trash, clutter, and
swept when needed to maintain a neat area on the exterior of the
warehouse. * When not working outside, the employee will sweep, clean
and help maintain the inside of the warehouse as dictated by their
supervisor. * On occasion, the employee may be tasked with delivery of
material to the various fire station(s). * The employee will assist in
any other appropriate capacity as dictated by the management team.
WORKING CONDITIONS The position requires extensive, near-continuous
physical exertion such as the repeated lifting of very heavy objects
(more than 80 pounds), deep bending, climbing steps and/or assuming
awkward positions. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Ability
to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written
instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of
formal schooling. No special knowledge of any subject area or technical
field is required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Six months of related
experience are preferred. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Must have a valid Texas
Class C driver's license and comply with the City of Houston's policy on
driving. PREFERENCES Eligible veteran applicants provided such persons
possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the
duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the
most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in
