    Job Description

    GENERAL DEFINITION

    This is skilled clerical and technical work of limited scope and difficulty performing a variety of facilitating services. This position will be responsible specimen collection and data entry of information in the drug testing lab and/or the DNA collection lab of the Adult Probation and Parole Department.

    Assignments are stable in nature and are carried out in accordance with standard practices in the area of assignment and general work instructions. Specific knowledge of the policies and procedures in the assigned area of concentration is an important aspect of the work. General supervision is received from an administrative superior.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Knowledge of English grammar and spelling.
    • Knowledge of business arithmetic.
    • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
    • Ability to effectively communicate the English language both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, associates, department supervisors and managers, and court personnel.

    1. High school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Three years in progressively responsible clerical position in assigned functional area.
    3. Successful completion of a criminal background investigation and drug screen.
    4. City residency required within six (6) months of satisfactory completion of an orientation period.
    5. Ability to perform the essential functions of a position in this class.
    6. Covid-19 Vaccination is recommended

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    ** The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.**

    • Performs drug test and/or DNA collections from clients.
    • Maintains specimen integrity by following department procedures.
    • Completes all drug screen/DNA collections paperwork as required.
    • Accurately transfers data from source document to several secondary documents or databases.
    • Performs routine and repetitive activities in an assigned area. Duties include posting spreadsheets, databases or other documents of record.
