Duties include but are not limited to: * Processes Veteran Requests and notices, prepares Public vouchers for processing. * Collect, analyze and prepare data for processing. * Determines Insurance payments to be applied to Veteran's co-payments by reviewing account information. * Provide customer service while supporting VA mission. There is no Time in Grade requirements for grade 5. TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Qualifications You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS- 4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:

    • Collects, analyzes and prepares data for processing, including refund reviews and insurance payments to accounts.. * Skill using in Microsoft Office Products such as Excel, Word, Power-point, etc. to ensure that pertinent information is gathered and entered into automated systems. * Providing patient education and assistance via telephone or written correspondence concerning one or more healthcare programs. * Preparing written documents such as correspondence and memorandum's of a routine nature. * Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations and guidelines related to healthcare eligibility and billing to analyze and prepare data for processing. * Prepares vouchers for processing first party refunds with correct funds and patient information. * Collects, analyzes and prepares data for processing, including refund reviews and insurance payments to veterans' accounts. . OR, * Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school. * . OR, * Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond High School. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting at a desk, working with computers daily. Some work may require walking in offices and similar areas for meetings. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite. The work does not require any special physical effort.
