    Prosthetic Clerk - Milwaukee, WI - Overview Summary OUR MISSION: To fulfill President Lincoln's promise "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" - by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans. The incumbent is a member of Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service (P&SAS) within the Prosthetics Product Line of VISN 12 located at VAMC Milwaukee. This medical center has an active outpatient treatment program and includes, but not limited to, Audiology & Speech Pathology, Visual Impairment Service Team, Spinal, Rehabilitation Medicine, Medical Services, Surgical Service, Ophthalmology, and Orthopedic Services. P&SAS have coordination of the Amputee Clinic and Major Medical Committee. This facility also includes active Community Base Outpatient clinics in both Wisconsin and Illinois and specialized clinical referrals from outside VISN 12. The incumbent is the first employee within the Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) that the public encounters. Duties Duties: -Consistently answers and screens all incoming calls to Prosthetics by either diecting calls, or taking messages. -Accurately refers callers to the appropriate staff member for complicated inquires. -Greet all visitors (veterans, vendors, etc.) promptly and in a warm, caring, and friendly manner. -Schedules appointments utilizing the "Check-In/Check-Out" and CPT function in VISTA. -Determines Veteran's eligibility and entitlement for prosthetic items. -Issues prosthetic items from inventory. -Refers Veteran's to appropriate clinic's if training of items issued are needed. -Assists visitors and/or callers with the completion of forms or documents necessary to provide the prosthetic items. -Posts notes to prosthetic CPRS consults regarding status of order and for closing the consults when appropriate. -Utilizes office automation equipment, such as facsimile machine, personal computers, printers, and copy machines. -Assists staff with calling vendors requesting invoices, packing slips and filing for purchase orders. -Consistently completes the stock issue process within 5 days. This process consists of issuing and/or mailing items to patients and posting transactions to the 2319. -Appropriately and courteously relate to internal and external customers. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: - Specialized Experience GS- 5: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS- 4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Climbing associated with stocking of equipment and other items in a storage area is necessary.
