Purchasing Agent (Prosthetics) - Manchester, NH - Overview Summary Duties Major duties and responsibilities include: The incumbent, under an Ordering Officer Designation, will place purchase orders for needed medical and inventory supplies for the PSA Service through the credit card system. The incumbent receives and analyzes prescriptions and request s for prosthetic appliances, services and medical equipment received from physicians, therapists and other medical center personnel, patients and/or their representatives. The incumbent examines clinical health records and claims folders to determine legal eligibility and medical entitlement for prosthetic items and services. The incumbent authorizes and prepares complex purchase orders for a wide variety of prosthetic and 01thotic devices, medical supplies and durable medical equipment. The incumbent is responsible for researching information on prosthetic appliances, services, and medical equipment from contracted sources as outlined in Class Deviation from Department of Veterans Affairs Acquisition Regulation 801 .603-70. Incumbent will obtain necessary product information, price information, and procedures for placing written and verbal purchase orders to obtain standard, custom made, esoteric and little known equipment. The incumbent is also responsible for researching compatibility of a product from one manufacturer to another for product improvement and/or enhancements.
