Electrical Line Helper - Department of Technology (7432)
Job Description
Position:
Under supervision, performs semi-skilled and labor-based line work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of communication cables and infrastructure for the City’s fiber network. Work may also include installation of copper wiring, Category 5/6 cable, and emerging wireless and microwave technologies.

Incumbent will conduct the majority of work at various City Agencies throughout the City of San Francisco as well some remote CCSF facilities outside of the City and County of San Francisco. The incumbents primary reporting and dispatch location will be 200 Paul Ave., San Francisco, CA 94124.
Nature of Work:
Candidate must be willing to work a 40-hour week as determined by the department, including mandatory rotations at Swing Shift (3:00pm - 11:00pm) and Graveyard Shift (11:00pm - 7:00am). Travel within San Francisco may be required.
Job Appointment Type:
Temporary Exempt (TEX) - Full Time (4 positions) are excluded by the Charter from the competitive civil service examination process. The successful candidate shall serve at the discretion of the appointing officer. This position has an anticipated duration of up to thirty-six (36) months.
Qualifications
Education: Possession of a high school diploma or proof of successful completion of an equivalency test (G.E.D or California High School Proficiency Examination).
Experience: Two (2) years of full time verifiable general electrical and mechanical work experience in maintenance/construction.
** License or Certificate**
Possession and maintenance of, or the ability to obtain and maintain, a current valid California Class C driver license.

SECURITY CLEARANCES AND BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS: Positions in this classification may require that successful candidates who become eligible for appointment may be required to go through a background investigation to determine the candidate's suitability for employment in this classification.
