    Detention Assistant Salary $24,211.20 - $27,331.20 Annually Location Corrections Department - Pensacola, FL Job Type Full-Time Regular Department Corrections Department Job Number 2018 - JDA Closing 8/22/2018 11:59 PM Central Description This class performs routine incidental keyboarding and duties involving monitoring, processing inmate related paperwork, and controlling facility access. The work site for this position is the Jail. This is a "mandatory testing" position that requires Drug Testing. Examples of Duties Provides information by phone or in person to the public regarding a variety of issues, which may include: charges, court dates, visiting hours, and/or other related items. Performs a variety of release desk activities, which may include: working with bondsmen on the release of inmates; receiving deposits and issuing receipts from inmate money; preparing bonds and ensuring appropriate information is properly recorded; reviewing, verifying, and completing inmate release paperwork; communicate release instructions to inmates; and/or, performing other related activities. Performs inmate processing, which may include: obtains fingerprints, photographs, and warrant checks; pre-booking new arrest reports; preparing files for newly arrested individuals; monitoring arrestees in holding areas; preparing and collecting arrestee property; assigning inmate cells; disseminating arrestee information to appropriate individual(s); and/or, performing other related activities. Prepares files and folders containing a variety of information on arrestees. Enters a variety of information related to arrestees, inmates, and/or other applicable information into logs, record books, spreadsheets, and/or databases; prepares related reports and disseminates to appropriate individual(s). Receives, reviews, and/or documents a variety of paperwork and information checking for accuracy and completeness of information; notifies appropriate individuals of pertinent information. Controls access into and out of designated areas; monitors surveillance monitors and notifies appropriate individuals of suspicious activities. Receives, inspects, inventories, records, and/or releases arrestee personal property. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Positions assigned to Court Security may be responsible for: Attending court and taking dispositions; Coordinating court functions with other divisions and agencies. Positions assigned to Inmate Records may be responsible for: Calculating and documenting gain time awarded to inmates; Preparing and issuing certified letters of incarceration; Scheduling conference rooms for depositions. Qualifications Training and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), and one year of clerical and customer service experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Supplemental Information Physical Requirements: Positions in this class typically require : Balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
