    Job Description

    Under direct supervision, the Community Development Program Assistant performs administrative/clerical duties in coordinating the participation of mortgage lenders and realtors in MOHCD first time homebuyer programs and assists home buyers in escrow to purchase a City sponsored property. The essential duties include processing lender and realtor participation documentation; creating and maintaining lender and realtor profiles; serving as a liaison for and provides training to mortgage lenders and realtors, housing counselors, program staff and applicants; processing application and lender packages; assisting with preparation of program reports; performing word-processing, data entry, data reporting and other related duties. The position is also responsible for direct customer service to the public interested in all MOHCD programs and services, responding to program inquiries from various groups and organizations through different channels, and participation in various workshops, meetings and events. The Community Development Program Assistant also performs related duties as required.

    1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of administrative/professional experience in community development, housing and/or housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children/youth work, criminal justice, or elections related work; OR

    2. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the following fields: public or business administration, urban planning, government, social work, education, finance or criminal justice.

    SUBSTITUTION:

    Verifiable administrative/professional experience involving community development, housing and/or housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children/youth work, criminal justice, and/or elections related work may substitute for the educational requirement in Minimum Qualification #1 on a year-for-year basis.

    ** Desirable Qualifications:**

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel, Work, and PowerPoint
    • Minimum two years’ experience in the residential mortgage industry
    • Minimum typing speed 50 WPM with 98% accuracy
    • Ability to efficiently execute instruction, work independently and meet deadlines
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Candidates will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire. The Supplemental Questionnaire is designed to measure knowledge, skills, and/or abilities in job-related areas which may include but not limited to: knowledge of principles and practices of department specific programs including the goals and objectives of these programs; knowledge of activities of community agencies charged with carrying out the programs; knowledge of relevant Federal, State and Local Laws, procedures and regulations governing the department specific programs; ability to apply principles to define programs, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions in order to make recommendations regarding the visibility or proposed project and program activities, and determine alternate or additional sources of funding for proposed project and program activities, and ability to prepare written information in a clear, concise and well-organized manner, using appropriate rules of grammar and composition when composing reports, correspondence, and other documents. A passing score must be achieved on the Supplemental Questionnaire Evaluation in order to be placed on the eligibility list according to the final score.
