    Job Description

    Under general supervision, as an IS Business Analyst-Assistant you will assist in the performance of various aspects of the systems development cycle and may include needs analysis, cost-benefit analysis, structured systems analysis and design, feasibility analysis, technology and software assessment, telecommunications needs analysis, project planning and management, system installation, implementation and testing, conversion to production status, technical and procedural documentation, user training, post-implementation assessment and administration.

    Important and Essential Duties:

    • Assist in system deployments and SQL server agent job execution monitoring.
    • Analyze data and design data visualizations to identify opportunities for improving business processes.
    • Assist in the design of new or revised systems and programs, and in the coordination of integration into existing systems and procedures.
    • Assist in conducting systems analysis for applications, databases and other systems.
    • Assist in the analysis of user needs and requirements.
    • Document new and modified systems and programs.
    • Assist in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems.
    • Assist in the testing of new or modified systems.
    • Provide technical support to users.
    • Assist in conducting feasibility studies.
    • Respond to service requests and implement solutions to problems.
    • Work on-site at the yard once or twice a week to support operations and collaborate with team members.

    Minimum Qualifications

    _ _ Education:__
    An associate degree in business administration, public administration, information systems, economics, finance, computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units (i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in one of the fields above or a closely-related field).

    _ _ Substitution:__
    Experience in the information systems field, including technical support, content management, administration of network applications or system analysis may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in one of the fields above or a closely related field.

    Completion of the 1010-Information Systems Trainee program may be substituted for the required degree.

    ** CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**
    Valid Driver’s License: Applicants must possess a valid State of California driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit them from legally performing the essential functions and duties of the role.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience with SQL and Microsoft SQL Server databases and the ability to create and/or modify SQL queries.
    • Experience with data cleansing and data extract, transform, and load (ETL) process.
    • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C#, NET, JavaScript and HTML.
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI and Tableau.
    • Ability to reason logically and to communicate effectively with system users to translate application concepts into system applications.
    • Ability to translate technical concepts and terminology in terms understandable to system users.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with user departments, administrative officials, and employees.

The MQSQ will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications.
