GS-2299-5/7/9. The full performance level of the trainee position is a
GS-2299-9. Upon successful completion of your education and all program
requirements you may be non-competitively converted to permanent or term
appointment in the competitive service as an IT Specialist position at
the GS-2210, 5/7/9/11/12 in the Information Technology Division.
Conversion is not guaranteed or implied. In order to successfully
complete the Pathways Internship Program, you must complete a minimum of
640 hours of work experience acquired through the program and
successfully complete your course of academic study. This is a 6 month
roster announcement that will be used to fill positions IT-Wide
throughout the next 6 months. We are projecting approximately 30

The following are the duties of a Student Trainee Information Technology
Specialist at the GS-9. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you
will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will
receive training to you grow in this position. In this position, you
will perform assigned aspects of routine, non-routine, and recurring
assignments. Examples of the duties may include, but are not limited to,
the following: * Participates on a team designing, developing, testing,
and implementing software for less complex programs, such as modifying
input forms. * Develops flow diagrams and/or pseudo-code. * Tests and
debugs programs according to detailed requirements and submits completed
applications software to the project leader. * Installs, configures, and
maintains operating systems components, and installs updates and
temporary fixes to existing programs. * Assists in the installation of
operating systems update packages. * Runs tests and correct problems,
and recognizes and refers serious problems to more experienced
specialists or vendors. * Analyzes reports. Identifies deficiencies in
operating systems parameters, and recommends remediation to a more
experienced specialist. * Troubleshoots and maintains the stability of
communications lines and equipment. * Install, configures and
troubleshoots LAN and WAN components such as routers, hubs, switches,
and Identifies the need to upgrade or enhance network component
capabilities in response to network problems and deficiencies, e.g.

experience for this position includes: Basic knowledge of IT processing
functions to understand the stages to automate a work process.
Experience must have also included work with clients and customers to

relevant information, demonstrate using sound judgment, and making

halts; scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers
where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production
efficiency; preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where this
involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical

developed by others into language codes that computers accept where this
