Vision & Hearing Technician Salary $17.49 Hourly Location Health Department 700 Fuller Avenue NE Grand Rapids Job Type Full-time Department Health Department Job Number 1812-615-1102 Closing 12/28/2018 11:59 PM Eastern Job Responsibilities The successful candidate will provide vision and hearing screening of pre-school and school-age children and youth throughout Kent County per Michigan Department of Community Health protocols. Duties include documentation of screening results, referrals for medical evaluation and follow-up. Will assist parents in accessing appropriate care and resources for their children. Wide use of central database. This position follows a nine-month calendar and is generally scheduled to work September through May annually, but may be required to work year-round. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent combined with one year successful experience working with children in an education or health and human services setting. Must be able to interact positively with children, parents, teachers, school administrators, health practitioners and members of the general public from a broad range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Must be able to successfully complete Michigan Department of Community Health training and pass the examination for certification as a Public Health Vision and Public Health Hearing Technician. Must possess basic computer literacy. Must possess a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license. Ability to speak Spanish is desired.
