Job Description
Under the general direction of the Chief Experience Officer, the Manager of Inclusive Excellence and Staff Experience will lead the development and execution of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and Workforce Experience strategies that align with ZSFG’s mission, promoting patient health equity and workforce diversity. The position will design and oversee initiatives that improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and well-being, ensuring a positive workplace culture. Collaboration is key to this position's success and requires building strong intra- and inter-departmental partnerships, working with leadership, HR, and stakeholders to integrate DEI principles into all areas of hospital operations. Fostering a more inclusive and culturally competent workforce requires this position to train staff on unconscious bias, cultural responsiveness, and inclusive leadership. The position will monitor and analyze DEI and workforce metrics to assess progress, guide improvements, and inform decision-making. This role will lead efforts to embed DEI in organizational practices, ensuring alignment and engagement across all levels of staff, and develop and execute communication strategies to share DEI goals, achievements, and initiatives with both internal and external audiences. The position will supervise, support, and mentor DEI team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment.

Qualifications
** Required Minimum Qualifications**
EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Additional qualifying experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis. One year (2,000 hours) of qualifying experience is equivalent to thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units.
Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.
One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week).

Selection Procedures :
After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following.
Supplemental Questionnaire (SQ) Examination (Weight: 100%): Candidates who qualify will be invited to participate in a Supplemental Questionnaire (SQ) Examination to measure the knowledge, skills, and abilities in job-related areas which may include but not be limited to: Understanding of social determinants of health disparities data; Ability to lead organizational policy or systems change efforts related to racial equity; Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of racial equity to your work; Understanding of systemic and institutional racial bias and the ability to assist others in understanding structural and institutional barriers to racial equity; Knowledge of racial equity literature, frameworks, practice; Ability to collaborate with other city departments to develop policies to advance racial equity in DPH and across SF; Ability to communicate with diverse audiences internal to DPH and the community at large; Ability to navigate the bureaucracy of an organization while being sensitive to the competing needs of internal and external stakeholders; Ability to conduct community engagement and community building, especially in the African American and Latino communities; Organizational change management skills.
The SQ will be emailed to the address listed on the candidate’s online application. Candidates will be required to respond to the SQ in the time frame indicated and must submit the completed questionnaire as directed to have it evaluated. Responses cannot be changed once submitted. Candidates will be evaluated based on their SQ responses.
Candidates must achieve a passing score in order to continue in the selection process and will be placed on the confidential eligible list in rank order according to their final score.
Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.

The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of the List.

The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be 6 months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
