Job Description
Under the immediate supervision of a licensed provider, registered nurse, or nurse manager, the Medical Assistant performs duties that assist in providing medical evaluation, treatment, and care, including the administration and evaluation of routine medical tests.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - Required
** EDUCATION** : Possession of a recognized Medical Assistant Degree or Certificate

One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week).

After application submission, candidates deemed qualified must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process, which includes the following.
Assessment Component
Candidates that meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in written multiple-choice exam that is designed to measure the knowledge, skills, and abilities in job related areas which may include but not be limited to: knowledge of medical terminology and procedures; knowledge of medical examination and procedures; knowledge of medical testing equipment; ability to plan and organize; ability to operate a computer and navigate through basic software programs; communication/human relations ability, and ability to record keep.
Written Examination (Weight: 100%): Candidates must achieve a passing score on the written multiple-choice exam in order to continue in the selection process and will be placed on the confidential eligible list in rank order according to their final score.
Your assessment score will be "banked" for one year. During this period, you will not need to retake this assessment for another 2430 Medical Assistant announcement. If another announcement occurs within twelve months from the date of this examination and requires this assessment, your score will be automatically applied to that announcement. Re-testing is permitted no sooner than twelve months from the date of the assessment and only in conjunction with your eligibility for another announcement for which this assessment is utilized.
The use of “banked” scores may change if the assessment is revised significantly in the future. Candidates with “banked” scores would be required to take the revised assessment sooner if they apply to a job opportunity using the same revised assessment. __
Language Proficiency Exam : For positions requiring bilingual fluency, candidates deemed qualified who meet the special language condition must pass a departmentally approved language proficiency exam prior to appointment. Only those eligible candidates who pass the bilingual proficiency test will be considered for the bilingual position. Applicants must indicate on the application form the language(s) they claim proficiency.
Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions.
Certification
The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of List Scores.

The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be 6 months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
