The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive or classified national security information. Security and Counterintelligence is responsible for the protection of NSA/CSS information, people and facilities worldwide. In support of this mission, Polygraph Examiners help ensure that only trustworthy individuals receive access to classified information by using structured polygraph examinations, including interviews and interrogations, to obtain information in making adjudicative decisions. Polygraph Examiners are required to successfully complete the National Center for Credibility Assessment Basic Course. After completing training, the responsibilities of a Polygraph Examiner include, but are not limited to: * applying principles and methods of physiological response assessment (e.g., polygraph assessment), including test techniques, scoring methods, and regulations * applying techniques of interviewing, elicitation, debriefing, and/or interrogation in a systematic manner * preparing accurate and complete reports that document processes, outcomes, and findings * creating a product based on analysis of security and/or counterintelligence data Skills The ideal candidate has a desire for continual learning with excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills who is: * able to work as an individual, and in a team and/or classroom environment * well-organized and able to handle multiple assignments * able to handle and adapt to constructive feedback * a strong written and oral communicator * able to deal with conflict or difficult situations and topics * present a mature, professional demeanor and appearance Qualifications * Possess a valid driver's license with a responsible driving record and operate a motor vehicle on a daily basis * Maintain certification by completing a minimum of 80 hours of continuing education every two years * Willing and able to qualify to carry a firearm and maintain federal firearms certification annually * Willing and able to fully participate in full-contact, defensive tactics training * Possess a 4-year degree or greater from an accredited college or university'degree in any field is acceptable. Considering the following areas of study, but not limited to: Information Technology, Business, Computer Forensics, Psychology, Cybersecurity, Finance, Political Science, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Law, Computer Science, Liberal Arts, Data Science, Behavioral Science, and Statistics * Prior investigative experience (law enforcement, security, behavioral science, leadership, computer forensics, information assurance and computer/network security) preferred, but not required for consideration * Successful completion of a full-scope polygraph and Tier 5 Background Investigation Knowledge and relevant experience in one or more of the following is desired: * Behavioral Science * Counseling * Security * Law Enforcement * Counterintelligence Investigations * Polygraph Salary Range: $45,972 - $73,105 (Entry/Developmental) * The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Entry is with a Bachelor's degree and no experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience may be considered. Degree Criminology, Behavioral Science, Law Enforcement, Psychology, or Political Science is preferred, but a degree in any field is acceptable. Relevant experience must be in security, law enforcement, behavioral science, counterintelligence investigations, or a related field. A current valid U.S. driver's license is required. Salary Range: $68,036 - $106,012 (Full Performance) * The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience. Degree Criminology, Behavioral Science, Law Enforcement, Psychology, or Political Science is preferred, but a degree in any field is acceptable. Relevant experience must be in security, law enforcement, behavioral science, counterintelligence investigations, or a related field. A current valid U.S. driver's license is required.
