Deputy Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officer NYC Department of Buildings 38 reviews - Manhattan, NY $71,021 - $90,000 a year Working directly with the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officer, the Deputy EEO Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the agency's EEO operations to ensure compliance with the City's EEO Policy and applicable federal, state and local laws. Performance of these duties requires collaboration with various internal units as well as liaising with other City agencies including DCAS. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Conducts and/or supervises internal EEO investigations and prepares reports and recommendations for review by the EEO Officer. * Handles reasonable accommodation requests, including meeting with employees and conducting any necessary research. * Provide guidance to executive, managerial and supervisory staff regarding EEO matters, including changes in the law, to ensure that best practices are adhered to in making employment decisions. * Develops implements, and disseminates diversity, inclusion and EEO policies and procedures as required to meet the Agency's strategic goals and to comply with all applicable Federal, State and Local laws. * Conducting mediation sessions/alternative dispute resolution as needed. * Assisting with the 55-A program. * Liaising with the Citywide EEO Office. * Develops, conducts and coordinates EEO-related training for employees including training EEO Counselors * Assists the EEO Officer in monitoring and reviewing the Department's employment policies and practices, including job postings, recruitment, selection, promotions, performance evaluations, transfers, and separations to ensure compliance with applicable laws and City EEO guidelines. This includes identifying variations in practice and recommending changes to comply with applicable laws. * Compiles statistical data on EEO matters and prepares all required reports for review by the EEO Officer. * Performs various other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the EEO Officer or Commissioner, including assisting with the 55-a program. Minimum Qual Requirements 1. A master's degree from an accredited college in business or public administration, economics, labor or industrial relations, statistics, industrial psychology or a closely related social science field and one year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in labor research and analysis, employee benefit design and benefit program evaluation, compensation analysis, labor economics, economic planning, or a related area; or 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of professional experience as described in "1" above; or 3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.
