Painter – Building and Street Repair - Public Works (7346 TEX)
Job Description
Under general supervision, as a Painter, you will perform skilled painting work on exteriors and interiors of buildings, structures and equipment.
Important and Essential Duties:
Your duties as a Painter may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Nature of Work: This position requires sustained physical effort with considerable standing, bending, and occasionally heavy lifting; working in confined spaces; intermittent exposure to hazardous heights and poorly ventilated areas, streets, and roadways; and ability to be cleared for respirator fit testing and use. Additionally, work at correctional and/or medical facilities may be required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of a recognized painters' apprenticeship program.
AND
Experience:
Two (2) years of verifiable experience as a journey-level painter which included a combination of painting exteriors and interiors of buildings, structures equipment, roadways and airfields. Experience solely in automotive or sign painting does not qualify.
AND
License:
Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License.
Substitution:
Additional qualifying experience can be substituted for the apprenticeship on a year-for-year basis.

Valid Driver’s License: Applicants must possess a valid State of California driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit them from legally performing the essential functions and duties of the role.

The selection process will include an evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements. Depending on the number of applicants, the department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate the qualifications of candidates. If this becomes necessary, only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the department will move forward in the recruitment process.
Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ):
Candidates may be required to complete an MQSQ as part of the employment application. This MQSQ is designed to obtain specific information regarding an applicant's experience in relation to the Minimum Qualifications (MQ) for this position. The MQSQ will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications.
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through all of the steps in the selection procedure.
