Experience : 0 Description : Responsibilities The Port Authority of NY & NJ is seeking Full-time&Part-time Toll Collectors to fill positions at our various tunnel and bridge toll facilities. Starting Salary: $12.68 hourly. Toll Collectors are eligible for annual step increases up to an hourly salary of $28.32 (subject to collective bargaining agreement). Toll Collectors have the opportunity to become Full-time Toll Collectors, Tolls Supervisors, and often grow into other career opportunities with the agency. Toll Collectorsplay a highly visible, front-line customer service role at the Port Authority of NY & NJ toll facilities.Toll Collectors performs routine duties in the collection of tolls from customers operating vehicles at some of the busiest transportation facilities in the region. Toll Collectors are responsible for performing their duties in a manner that creates a favorable impression through exceptional customer service and professionalism. Rotating Tours & Schedules: Toll Collectors' work schedule may consist of: + approximately 16 - 28 hours per week for Part-time and 40 hours per week for Full-time + morning and afternoon tours for Part-time; over night tours available for Full-time positions only + tours that start as early as 5:45am and end as late as 12:00am + rotating schedules, including weekends and holidays + tour schedules that fluctuate from day to day and week to week + days off can be different from week to week Locations: Port Authority toll facilities include the Goethals Bridge,Outerbridge Crossing, George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel and Lincoln Tunnel. Note - there is limited public transportation access to some facilities. Qualifications Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position: + High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution + Minimum of one (1) year work experience in a position where handling money was a primary function + Minimum of one (1) year work experience in a position where direct customer service was a primary job function Desired The ideal candidate will present the following qualification profile: + Experience in a fast paced, high-volume customer service and/or money handling environment + Valid driver license Compensation & Benefits The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey offers a competitive salary, an outstanding benefits package and a professional environment that supports development and recognizes achievement.
