    Job Description

    ** Special Project:** _ East Bay Region Projects – Water Enterprise Capital Improvement Program_

    The Project Manager II (PM) is responsible for management and implementation of East Bay Region Projects funded by the 10-year Water Enterprise Capital Improvement Program (WECIP). The projects include new and renovation improvement to various Water Supply and Treatment Division (WSTD) facilities, including Sunol maintenance yard, dams, water treatment facilities, pipelines, water quality monitoring stations, chemical injection facilities, security improvements, and Natural Resources and Land Management Division (NRLMD) facilities in the Alameda Creek Watershed. These projects are intended to improve the operation, reliability, and security of the water system and facilities.

    Under general administrative direction of the Water Enterprise CIP Program Director, Project Management Bureau Manager, and the Senior Project Manager, the PM will plan, organize, coordinate, direct, and control multiple complex engineering projects from concept through design and construction to closeout. The projects will include working closely with the Water Enterprise staff at WSTD, Water Quality Division (WQD), NRLMD, and Hydrology and Water Systems.

    Essential Functions:

    The PM will be responsible for preparing and monitoring the project budget, including occasionally obtaining funding; overseeing the completion of conceptual design; overseeing planning activities; coordinating work of a multi-disciplinary technical staff across organizational boundaries; working with consultants, private contractors, special interest groups, governmental funding and regulatory agencies, and City and County departments; coordinating CEQA processes and/or obtaining permits; controlling project cost and schedule; reviewing reports, plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates and schedules; serving as primary contact for all parties involved in the project; and other duties as required.

    The Project Manager II will perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Two additional years of project coordination experience, AND

    • Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, or planning plus four (4) years of responsible architectural, engineering or construction management experience, OR

    • A Bachelor's Degree in another field plus six (6) years of responsible experience in a field directly related to the project, OR

    • Eight (8) years of architectural, engineering, or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project, OR

    • Possession of a valid California registration as professional engineer or architect.

    One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours. (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.) Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate shall possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, be a California licensed professional engineer, and have at least six (6) years of experience with water or wastewater projects, pipeline/conduit projects, dam projects, contract document preparation and construction support. A master’s degree in civil engineering is preferred.
