About Logansport State Hospital Logansport State Hospital mission is to provide specialized inpatient psychiatric services to assist people in achieving mental health recovery in a safe and respectful environment. ------------ A Day in the Life * Maintains safety and security on patient units. * Monitors patients in order to detect unusual behavior and report observations to RN or professional staff. Monitors patients during meals and may feed patients needing assistance. * Participates with patients in routine physical, emotional, psychological and rehabilitative care under the direction of a supervisor or treatment team * Records and maintains records of patient condition and activity. * Orients new patients and staff to the hospital routine on assigned unit. * May perform nursing duties such as administering medications (QMAs), measuring vital signs and collecting specimens. * Utilizes therapeutic interventions of patients using the principles of de-escalation, re-direction and intervention techniques for prevention and management of behavior. And may be asked to perform related duties as assigned * Accompanies patients to appointments, trips, religious and recreational events. * Cleans and disinfect rooms, furnishings and equipment to maintain a safe and clean environment ------------ About the Job * Purpose of this position is to provide care and support to patients by encouraging involvement in inter-active groups, social activities and other therapeutic measures. * Collaborates with interdisciplinary professionals to determine and provide the best care practices to patients * Maintains a safe and security environment through de-escalation techniques with patients. * Responsibility for maintaining the safety and security of patients on the unit.
