Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive, and functional abilities. To be considered for employment, all applicants must be in good standing with the North Carolina Personnel Health Care Registry. This position is a Supervisory Health Care Technician II (HCT II) and reports to the 2nd Shift Supervisor. This position is located in Beacon Cottage, 2nd Shift , 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. As a lead worker, the HCT II monitors care of people by Health Care Technician I's (HCT I) providing feedback to staff as needed. The HCT II provides direct care services to people with intellectual disabilities, some of whom have behavioral problems and/or medical conditions. These services are in the form of behavioral programming, habilitative training and activities, and in assisting with health care needs as needed. In addition to direct personal care, the position carries out program goals to encourage independent functioning in all aspects of daily living. Scheduled Work Hours: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, 5 days/week, rotating weekends and holidays Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Applicants must have the following demonstrated abilities: * Knowledge of approved behavioral intervention programs * To work with multi-handicapped individuals having knowledge of basic health care, hygiene and safety * Working knowledge of appropriate protocols for medication administration when required * Ability to document clear and concise notes of client progress and behaviors * Ability to communicate information clearly to family members and treatment team members * Ability to relate positively to clients, families, and professional staff * Ability to follow-up on services being provided to the individuals to assure needs are being met

    • To work independently and as a member of a team * To maintain professional and even tempered demeanor in work relationships Management Preferences (if applicable): Management prefers candidates with two years of work experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of closely related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
