· Responsibilities include: Assist with inventorying, documenting, and mapping the locations and types of existing cultural, historic and scenic resources including sites and structures in the region. Contribute to developing a land use development pamphlet for public consumption. Perform related activities and miscellaneous clerical support as needed. Carrying out office, physical and outdoor work activities associated with all assigned duties. Qualifications: Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, majoring in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Land Use Planning, or related field. Ability to perform work in the field and take photographs. Understand how to read and review maps and geography in the region. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and other commonly used software programs. Ability to scan maps and organize file records. Geographic Information Systems knowledge or experience a plus. M ust be a Suffolk County resident and possess a valid drivers license. This is a paid internship and employment will begin in June 2018 and continue through mid- August 2018. Work hours to be determined with a maximum of 28 hours per week.
