    Major Duties

    • Serves as the technical authority over DLA Distribution Norfolk Supply Management responsible for policy compliance and providing expert technical advice to the DLA Distribution Centers.
    • Provides oversight for the testing, administration and implementation of supply systems associated with the distribution functions.
    • In concert with the command leadership, develops command-wide policies and plans.
    • Interprets and clarifies policies and procedures to all levels of management and employees.
    • Serves as central point of contact for site commanders to provide service and support.
    • Serves as a resource and may be detailed to augment key critical positions on site at a distribution center to support major changes in mission, transitions, or other emergencies.

    Qualification Summary

    To qualify for a Supervisory Supply Management Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Planning, organizing, supervising, and controlling programs to ensure maximum efficiency. Monitoring operations, methods, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective productivity or workflow. Coordinating all aspects of organization resource management programs for the command's distribution mission. Developing programs and policies which complement, and support varied operating programs. Performing extensive and in-depth analytical assessment and evaluation. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
