We’re hiring an APPLICATIONS ENGINEER in GRAND RAPIDS, MI.

POSITION SUMMARY Actively seeks to identify breakthrough/game changing ideas for the business through the creative application of existing and emerging technologies.   This can be done through a variety of ways including but not limited to observation, trend analysis, competitive analysis, Design Thinking, etc.

Required Skills

Envisions, implements and supports solutions (technical or non-technical) to resolve business problems or to capitalize on business opportunities by:

• Consulting with one or more client groups, either internal (e.g. order management, finance, manufacturing, dealer channel, etc..) or external (e.g. customers, dealers, suppliers, A&D firms)
• Assists in development of business requirements (process), information requirements (data), and constraint requirements (rules).
• Developing system requirements and identifying alternatives with associated costs for solutions that use ERP, Steelcase enterprise technology standards or emerging technologies (see below).
• Conducting feasibility studies and identifying business benefits.
• Implementing, deploying, maintaining, and upgrading solutions that use ERP, Steelcase enterprise technology standards or emerging technologies.
• Providing programming support and optimization for application modules within ERP, Steelcase enterprise technology standards or emerging technologies.
• Contributing toward/enabling client organization’s continuous improvement efforts by providing ‘run the business’ IT technology support and enhancements.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
• Broad set of knowledge across current and emerging technologies. Steelcase enterprise technology standards include SAP ERP, BI, CRM, Microsoft Visual Studio/.Net, Java, C#, Javascript, CAD/CAM, HTML, CSS, Magic, Crystal Reports, Oracle, SQL Server, additional web tools.   Emerging technologies include mobile platforms, RFID, 3D printing and other future breakthroughs.
• Engineering, math, accounting concepts preferred.
