  • Responsibilities
    • Position based in New York City
    • Advise and counsel clients on all issues related to global marketing and advertising programs in all media and formats including TV, print, digital/social, packaging, promotions, etc.
    • Review product and brand advertising claims; review and provide guidance on test protocols, consumer research, claim substantiation, and other support data
    • Respond to and manage defense of advertising and regulatory litigation, challenges and inquiries globally
    • Provide client education and training on relevant legal issues, develop processes and forms to support business marketing needs and efficiencies
    • Coordinate and manage outside law firms with respect to litigation, government inquiries and investigations
    • Advise and consult with all levels of the organization including senior leadership to identify critical legal issues, assess potential legal options, and provide individuals and teams with an analysis and range of possible legal solutions
    • Exercise independent judgment related to company legal matters

    Qualifications

    • Cosmetic and/or OTC industry experience
    • JD from a top law school
    • Licensed in NY (same comment)
    • 5-7+ years of marketing, advertising, and/or regulatory legal experience at AM Law 200 firm and/or Fortune 1000 company
    • Strong understanding of regulations/FTC and FDA compliance relating to cosmetic and OTC drug products preferred; understanding of similar regulations outside of the US a plus
    • Ability to form strong relationships with business leaders and serve as a counterpart to the Marketing, Product Development and R&D teams
    • Possesses strong communication skills -written and spoken - and a well-developed EQ; enjoys face-to-face interactions with business leaders and cross-functional partners
    • Willingness to learn global elements
    • Ability to execute in a complex matrixed environment while setting boundaries
    • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
    • Ability to work in a team but also manage issues independently
    • Marketing savvy and strong creative thinking skills
    • Strong critical thinker and practical, problem solver mentality

    The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,550 to $208,200. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results as well as participation in the share incentive plan.
