  • Responsibilities

    PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVE:

    The Product Specialist will be part of the Global Skincare Product Development team and work on various project aspects of the product development process to ensure thorough execution of the skincare strategies. Product Specialist is responsible for driving research and recommendations related to new EL product concepts and ingredients as well as competitive landscape.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Work closely with their manager to support calendarized launches in all stages from concept to on-counter.
    • Manage the product development process as follows:
      • Evaluate product lab submissions, all scale up batches and global product standards for texture, color, scent, etc. Manage the distribution of product samples to broader team. Send written responses to R&D and save all documentation.
      • Organization for all product submissions, global product standards and other related products (competitive).
      • Responsible for preparing PowerPoint presentations.
      • Support manager in preparation of product profiles and fact sheets.
      • Help support manager in the development of clinical test plans, sensory test plans, claims lists, component ordering for testing.
      • Manage product meeting samples.
      • Analyze consumer and clinical testing results, compiling data into testing dossiers. Manage the upkeep and accuracy of dossiers.
    • Actively conduct research of new product ideas (visual and literal).
    • Stay abreast of new competitive products: purchase and evaluate competitive products and create/manage the distribution of monthly new launch alerts.
    • Maintain upkeep of batch room product library (competitive and submissions).
    • Manage product orders for team product closet.
    • Manage organization and saving of all documents in shared folders (Public Relations, Education, Marketing, Copy, etc.) for each development program.
    • Serve as team lead on tracking cosmetic conferences, trade shows and other educational events.
    • Manage product bulk request process, ensuring product is received by creative teams in timely manner.
    • Create executive summaries, meeting recaps, charts, etc. as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Undergraduate college degree required.
    • Ideally 2 years related experience, preferred Product Development experience.
    • Excellent organization, communication and follow-through skills with a keen eye for detail.
    • Ability to think creatively and brainstorm new approaches, ingredients or ideas.
    • Multi-functional, flexible to handle ever changing priorities.
    • Skills in tactile/aesthetic evaluation of cosmetic products as well as the ability to communicate product understanding.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    The anticipated base salary range for this position is $60,500 to $90,500. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
