POSITION SUMMARY
The EHS Manager has overall responsibility for ensuring continued compliance to the UK & Ireland safety and environmental legal and corporate requirements, as well as setting the UK & Ireland Regional Environmental and Safety Strategy. Achievement of these goals requires the EHS Manager to lead a small team and actively engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders to drive excellence in execution and challenge existing practices to shape the future of safety and sustainability agenda across the region. This role covers safety and environmental practices for a Distribution Centre, 4 Head Office locations, 100 Free Standing Stores and over 2000 counter locations, plus support for brand activities and development of operations.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and implementation of an Environmental Health and Safety Strategy for the UK & Ireland Region aligned to both local and Global EHS and Corporate strategies. This will be supported through active consultation with key internal and external stakeholder to ensure awareness, alignment and support towards successful delivery. • Implementation and active monitoring of compliance with delivery of the strategy and progress to corporate goals through a defined KPI suite and leading on the implementation of corrective actions. • Management of the UK & Ireland Environmental and Safety Management System ensuring policies, procedures and other support documentation are developed and maintained to ensure continued compliance to legal and corporate safety and environmental requirements • Assessing existing and emerging safety and environmental risks to ensure continued protection of employees, customers and the brands and actively working with and educating key internal and external stakeholders to ensure continued protection. • Management of the EHS Team ensuring team members have defined Personal Development Plans and supported on their professional and personal development to deliver timely and pragmatic safety and environmental advice aligned to operational requirements. • Establish a safety culture that delivers world class EHS performance, through the development and maintenance of employee led safety and environmental programmes • Ensure the thorough investigation and root cause analysis of all accidents and issues of non-compliance and implementation of effective and sustained corrective actions • Development and implementation of training programmes to ensure employee competence and adherence to legal and corporate policies and procedures • Utilising safety and environmental data implement employee focused safety and environmental campaigns to raise awareness and drive action on reducing accidents and environmental harm • Act as lead for safety and environment related matters, actively liaising with key internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness, drive continuous improvement and embed safety and environmental practices across the UK & Ireland Region • Represent the UK Region on safety and environmental matters at EMEA and Global internal meetings and conferences • As a member of the Global EHS Team support the SVP Global EHS with the development, updating and implementation of EHS policies and support for the auditing of other global sites • As part of the UK Supply Chain Leadership Team, actively work with the VP, Supply Chain UK & Ireland and other heads of function to support the overall management and continued development of employees within the function. • As required, acting as the SME to support with the implementation and management of the UK Crisis Management Plan providing timely, accurate and pragmatic advice and guidance to support the effective resolution of emerging issues
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• At least 5 years experience in a similar role • Comprehensive knowledge of legislative requirements and experience of implementing and maintaining management systems to ensure continued compliance • Experience of leveraging stakeholder support to embed a positive safety and environmental culture and drive continuous improvement • Experience of leading a team • Project Management experience • Knowledge of the implementation and maintenance of ISO14001 and/or 18001 management standards
