Position Summary

This program is a 10-week full-time opportunity that provides real work experience with a team in your business area. You will be aligned to projects to lead or contribute to while also participating in networking, development, and career exploration activities. Our Corporate Interns can apply for future full-time roles during the program and have an increased likelihood to receive an offer for a post-graduation role.

The Summer 2024 program will run June 3rd - August 9th, 2024. Virtual onboarding activities will also take place May 29th -31st, 2024.

This is a hybrid position with 3 days (generally Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) in one of the following office locations based on your preferrence: Hartford CT / Scottsdale AZ / Chicago IL / Blue Bell PA / Atlanta GA / Omaha NE. The other 2 days each week will be working remotely from home, office, or another location of your choice. Housing & relocation funding will be provided for Hartford, CT office ONLY for the 10-weeks of the summer internship. If you select Scottsdale AZ / Chicago IL / Blue Bell PA / Atlanta GA / Omaha NE, No housing or housing stipend will be provided, but interns will be given the opportunity to connect with each other prior to the start of the program to coordinate housing if desired.

The hourly rate is $23 per hour plus $1.00 per hour increase for each passed actuarial exam with 40 hours/ week, no work on July 4th (company holiday), and two days of paid leave.

As an Actuary within Aetna, a CVS Health company, you will leverage strong analytical skills, business knowledge and understanding of human behavior to support the team in activities related to pricing, reserving, forecasting, data analytics, competitive intelligence, healthcare trend analytics and tracking business results.

• Monitoring and forecasting medical cost trends

• New product development and pricing

Examples of past internship projects include:

• Assignments are available across a variety of business units including Commercial Business, Government Businesses & Medical Economics.

• Limited non-traditional Actuarial assignments exist as available.

Work visa sponsorship is available for this role. This includes participation in Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and F-1 Visa programs.

Required Qualifications

• Meet educational requirements (see education section)

• Have a willingness to relocate if needed

• Have an interest in pursuing an Actuarial career

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship or work experience supporting Actuarial functions of an organization or group area.

• Demonstrated leadership experience. Examples include active roles in student or social organization activities, or sports

• Have experience with analytical or coding software. Examples include SAS, Python, Excel, VBA, SQL, or R

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Education

• Be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

• Have an anticipated graduation date between September 2024 and August 2027

• Have a major, minor or concentration relevant to the position.

Examples include: Actuarial Science, Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Risk Management, Statistics, or other related degree
