We actively respond to market trends and technological advances to stay relevant with current donors and fundraisers and create new, interesting, and compelling platforms that inspire engagement and giving with new audiences.

    The team identifies focused innovation opportunities within our current/core fundraising campaigns. Then, it solves the gaps to increase the number of participating companies, fundraisers, and donors to drive revenue growth. We are also developing and launching new revenue streams with the potential to raise $10M annually. We are seeking an intern with a passion for and some experience with social media platforms to engage and inspire fundraising.

    The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

    Internship Overview:

    Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week

    Internship Duration:1/21/25 – 5/2/25

    Location: Remote

    Salary: $23.00 per hour

    Internship Outcomes

    Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:

    • Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in a non-profit environment.
    • Opportunity to explore a career-path with a reputable voluntary health/service organization.
    • Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.

    Responsibilities

    • Expand engagement and increase revenue through emerging virtual communities and social media platforms.
    • Assist with creating and updating social media content to support fundraising activities on platforms like Instagram and through the AHA DIY fundraising pages.
    • Create and update social media content to support fundraising initiatives, including:
    • Vertical video for Instagram reels and stories
    • Posts for various social media platforms
    • Ability to host short live sessions
    • Support, direct stewardship and cultivation of current and former social media fundraisers and donors.

    Qualifications

    • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in marketing and communication, business, non-profit management, or a related degree.
    • Experience with fundraising activities preferred.
    • Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
    • Ability to interact professionally in a corporate, non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding communications and projects from inception through completion.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
    • Knowledge of social media platforms – Facebook and Instagram are primary.
    • Basic knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
    • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
    • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
