    Job Summary:

    The Accounting Specialist will be actively involved in accounting functions related to day-to-day accounts payable and cash application, as well as other projects as needed in the accounting department. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Specialist is responsible for a variety of accounting duties including, but not limited to:

    • Review all vendor invoices for appropriate coding, documentation, and approval to ensure accurate and timely payment. Maintain accurate vendor files and information, including contracts, payment terms and conditions, and remittance information.
    • Process incoming payments for multiple entities via check and ACH and upload journal entries into accounting system.
    • Evaluate existing accounts payable processes and recommend improvements to streamline operations, reduce errors, and improve efficiency. Contribute ideas to innovate workflows and reporting.
    • Issue patient refunds, as requested by billing manager.
    • Manage petty cash for multiple locations.
    • Open and distribute mail to appropriate departments.
    • Download daily bank activity and provide reports to billing teams.
    • Complete full-cycle AP processing, including weekly check/ACH run.
    • Ensure proper accruals for vendor invoices and close AP timely during month-end.
    • Follow-up with vendors on outstanding invoices for open PO’s.
    • Process payments on company credit card, match invoices/receipts, and record transactions.
    • Process annual 1099’s and unclaimed property reporting.
    • Create journal entries and assist with month-end close, as needed.
    • Provide weekly and monthly deposit and credit card reports to billing teams.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications:

    • Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent education and job experience preferred.
    • 2 years of accounts payable experience preferred.
    • Prior healthcare experience preferred.

    Skills & Abilities:

    • High attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Strong experience reviewing and analyzing financial data with a high level of accuracy.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure for month-end deliverables.
    • Computer skills – Intermediate Excel, Word, and Outlook required.

    • Full-Time: 40 hours/week
    • Non-Exempt
    • Day Shift: Monday – Friday, 8AM - 4:30PM; no evenings or weekends.
