Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, or "CRMC", is a 25-bed, non-profit, critical access hospital serving Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma since 1949. The Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) professionally, compassionately and appropriately assists the nursing staff with medical tasks like taking blood, monitoring vitals with medical equipment and reporting changes in patient behavior and wellbeing. The CNA also performs many basic care tasks for patients such as grooming, dressing, bathing, eating and exercising.
JOB DUTIES
- Deliver great patient care with compassionate support, attention and assistance to patients and families
- Answer patient calls and determine how best to help them
- Obtain a wide range of information from practitioners, caregivers and nurses about patient condition, treatment plans and suggested activities including plan of care
- Provide physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising
- Turning and repositioning bedridden patients
- Ensuring patients receive appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies and preferences
- Measure and record food and liquid intake and any urinary and fecal output; report changes to medical or nursing staff
- Examine patients to detect issues requiring medical care including open wounds, bruise or blood in urine
- Monitor patients throughout their treatment
- Perform routine checks of patients’ vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiration rate as requested or scheduled by staff
- Ensure that patients take their medication
- Liaise with patients’ families
- Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations
- In some settings:
• Assure patient chart completeness, records changes and Medicare reports with 98% accuracy
• Order supplies based on department needs
• Complete reports in a timely and accurate manner
• Assist with patient set-up and clean up
• Assist with maintaining orderliness of department
• Prepares necessary documentation and charting for patients
• Greet patients and visitors
The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the public
- Understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant scope
- Knowledgeable in policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
- Knowledgeable of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
- Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiar with electronic medical health care record systems
- Ability to maintain quality control standards
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit; reach with arms, hands and fingers to handle and feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste and smell as demonstrated by the Occupational Performance Capacity (OPC) test and/or pre-employment physical administered by CRMC at offer
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of CNA program, required
- Current CNA certificate with the State of Kansas, required
- BLS, required
- 1-2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting, preferred
