PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER I -IL Masonic Hospital, Chicago, IL. -Day Shift -Full Time -Pay Range: $14.04 - $21.06/hr., depending on exprience JOB and UNIT SUMMARY: -The Public Safety Officer I is responsible for maintaining a secure environment at the front line of service to ensure that patients, associates, visitors and guests are served and protected. Ensures that contents and assets of the site are secured and that potentially harmful, dangerous or unsafe situations or conditions are anticipated and addressed in a way that speaks to our mission, values and philosophy. -Responsible for assigned post/patrol and the accountabilities that are designated for that area or zone including working base/dispatch -Responsible for providing security services in emergency or unusual situations -Required to display high level of customer service at all times REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: -High School diploma or equivalent. -Some College preferred -State of Illinois 20 hour Basic Security Officer Course (40 hour course for officers who are armed). **New associates or transfers must have at time of hire -Valid Illinois Driver's License -2+ years of customer service experience -Possess a current Illinois FOID Card (if applicable) -Successful completion of MOAB training within 30 days of employment -Successful completion of Clinical Restraint Training within 30 days of employment -Complete the pressure points and control tactics and MOAB training annually (within 90 days of hire) -Certified in TASER Use within 90 days (where applicable) -Position is subject to work weekends and holidays -Must be able to work in all weather conditions -Ability to climb, walk, run and stand for long periods of time -Ability to perform very heavy lifting and/or help patients into and out of wheelchairs, cars, etc -Ability to defend self and/or others in case of physical confrontations **If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
