TMC/UH LAKEWOOD is located between Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, Missouri, offering residents of Eastern Jackson County access to a modern community hospital with a continuum of outpatient services designed to meet the needs of families. TMC/UH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH is the KC metro area’s largest, most comprehensive provider of mental health services. The HEALING CANVAS BUILDING, located in Kansas City’s vibrant Crossroads Arts District, is its epicenter, providing a broad list of outpatient services. We also offer psychiatric inpatient care, and we deliver therapeutic services through our community outreach clinics. We are a leader in the Trauma-Informed Care Movement, and provide training, coaching and consulting to outside organizations.
Under the supervision of Licensed Nursing Staff provides patient care as a member of the health care team on the Mental Health Unit. May complete clerical and receptionist duties as assigned. Demonstrates the ability to utilize those skills necessary to perform a variety of direct and indirect patient care while maintaining a therapeutic milieu.
Required Skills
High school diploma or equivalent
Must obtain BCLS certification within 120 days of hire; certification must be kept current for continued employment
Clearance through the Family Care Registry
Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management or Educators in the established timeline for continued employment
Department orientation with classroom and clinical training equivalent to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel regulations or background that meets these regulations as follows:
Unlicensed Assistive Personnel training or the training requirements will be waived if an employee demonstrates competency in the content areas required by regulatory requirements; in the duties specific to their job and the patient population assigned; and:
Is enrolled in a professional or practical nursing education program and has completed a fundamentals of nursing course; or
Was a professional nursing or practical nursing licensure candidate who failed
to pass the state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years; or
Is certified as a nursing assistant per state regulation; or
Is certified or has had formal training that meets the UAP curriculum; or
Has documented experience as a nurse assistant, emergency medical
technician or surgical technician in the past three (3) years; or
Has proof of completion of UAP training program in Missouri within the last
three (3) years which meets the requirements of this policy; or
Has completed a professional or licensed practical nursing program outside the
United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country
UAP’s from staffing agencies shall comply with the training requirements
If the above criteria are not met, the incumbent is prohibited from providing direct patient care to any acute care patients undergoing a procedure in the outpatient setting.
