In 1983, the new Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital opened in its current location on Robeson Street, with state-of-the-art medical capabilities and all private rooms. On June 1, 2004, Highsmith-Rainey began a new chapter in its proud history, opening additional continuing acute-care beds, including a four-bed Intensive Care Unit. Continuing acute care is highly complex acute care for patients who are usually very sick and require electronic monitoring and bedside care by nurses with advanced clinical skills. At the same time, Highsmith-Raineys Emergency Department became Highsmith-Rainey ExpressCare, one of three located throughout Fayetteville. Highsmith-Rainey is accredited by The Joint Commission. The Food and Nutrition Services department provides meals and other nutrition services for patients and cafeteria meal service for staff, physicians and visitors. Good nutrition is an integral component of the healing process. Food and Nutrition Services recognizes that each individual possesses unique nutritional needs, and we strive to address these to ensure optimal health. Individual nutritional needs are assessed to ensure optimal recovery. Food and Nutrition Services ensures that our patients receive quality meal service and between meal feedings in accordance with the diet prescribed by the attending physician and dietician. We offer At You Request restaurant-style meal service, available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Staff includes a Food Service Director, a Dietician, and other Food Service Assistants. We also provide catering services for in house function and events. Job Summary To provide the highest quality food products and services to our customers at all times. To perform a variety of duties in the preparation of various food products. Other responsibilities include following recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables and other food stuffs for consumption. Must be able to use a variety of kitchen equipment safely and effectively to measure and mix ingredients in the preparation of food for the customer. Is expected to taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, keep records, and may on occasion order supplies as requested. Capable of lifting and moving supplies, equipment and food. As requested, train new employees or provide guidance to other food service workers. Is expected to clean and sanitize equipment, work stations, counters and hold units to maintain an acceptable level of sanitation. Follows all Medical Center's and departments regulatory rules and procedures. Knowledgeable of proper food handling procedures. Able to follow verbal and written instructions. Other responsibilities may include following recipes and/or product directions for preparing, baking, molding, and shaping of bread products. Knowledge of baking ingredients, proper pan sizes, baking and room temperatures, appearance of product, and flavor of products made. Job Qualifications High school graduate or GED reqquired or completion of a vocational Training Program in food production. Minimum of 6-12 months work experience in an institutional or full service retail establishment. 2 year Vocational Training Program in baking or food preparation. Retail bakery establishment. Cake decorating experience or training.
