    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Pathology Assistant - Full Time Days 9AM-5PM; Monday through Friday - Pathology SIGN ON BONUS AVAILABLE

    In this role, the successful candidate Pathologist assistant graduated with PA license

    Job Responsibilities:

    Pathologist Assistant graduate with PA license.Working in gross room to take care of all related duties including , blocks.

    Responsible for proper handling of reference lab specimens. Resolves problems with specimen receipt.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Responds to organizational information requests in a timely manner. Utilizes technology to improve services,
    processes and productivity.
    • Responsible for upload and download of photography programs. Photograph specimens with use of appropriate
    camera settings and specimen labels.
    • Performs frozen sections and special studies as needed per laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and
    processing. Assists the pathologist in the preparation, staining and cover skipping of the sample selected for
    frozen section analysis. Accessions, bills and labels specimen containers and requisitions in an accurate and
    efficient manner.
    • Completes daily assignments in an organized, efficient manner. Oversees activities in frozen section room.
    Develops, coordinates and provides team support to accomplish day to day activities and tasks. Participates in
    departmental and inter-departmental conferences when appropriate.
    • Describes, dictates, and dissects all categories of surgical specimens in accordance with departmental guidelines
    accurately and efficiently.
    • Utilizes computer appropriately to accurately enter required information on the Histology log sheet. Shows
    resourcefulness in finding alternatives in accomplishing work tasks when appropriate.
    • Recognizes the appropriateness of a test requisition from physician, reference laboratory or consultant. Chooses
    appropriate samples for decalcification process and submits adequately decalcified samples to Histology.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Pathologist Assistant or related field OR Graduate from an National Accrediting Agency for Clinical
    Laboratory Science (NAACLS) approved Pathologists' Assistant program Required. NYS Pathologist Assistant License
    OR NYS Pathologist Assistant Permit Required. Strong communication (both oral and written), problem-solving, and
    organization, skills Required. Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel Required.
    Ability to maintain professional conduct under stressful conditions Required..

    Required Licenses: NYS-Pathologist Assistant Lic

    Preferred Qualifications:
    1-2 years Anatomic pathology services Preferred. National Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathologist
    (ASCP) or eligibility Preferred.

    Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $110,843.89 - $136,809.68 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
