Job Summary:
The Ambulatory Surgery Center Nursing Assistant provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and medical staff. They assist with preoperative and postoperative patient care, ensure a clean and organized environment, and support clinical staff in delivering high-quality outpatient surgical services. The Surgery Center Nursing Assistant task list includes, but is not limited to:
- Assist with prepping patients for surgery, setting up equipment, and getting the room ready for the next patient.
- Take temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
- Set up rooms for patient admission.
- Transport patients by bed, cart, or wheelchair.
- Set up and maintain surgical suites, ensuring proper supplies and equipment.
- Disinfect and restock patient care areas according to infection control standards.
- Stock and supply patient care areas.
- Follow safety protocols, including proper handling of medical equipment and biohazard materials.
- Respond to emergency situations by assisting the healthcare team.
- Answer phone calls (new patients, current patients, referring healthcare providers, etc.) regarding ambulatory surgery center operations and either handle or direct caller to the appropriate individual.
- Schedule injection appointments and enter information into a computerized schedule.
- Collect payments, copays, and deposits from patients at point of check in. Verifies insurance benefits.
- Update patient information in practice management software.
- Gather, enter, and/or update data to maintain records and databases in an efficient, organized, and confidential manner; establish and maintain files and records for the clinic.
- Resolve scheduling conflicts and maintain ASC patient flow.
- Comply with organizational and HIPAA policies and regulations to ensure patient care is kept confidential.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties and tasks as assigned.
- Assist with prepping of patient charts.
Approximately 30% of time is spent on administrative duties and 70% completing tasks in Pre/Post/OR/procedure area.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
** Qualifications:**
- High School Diploma or GED required. Post-secondary education and/or prior healthcare experience strongly preferred.
- CNA required.
- Minimum of one year of proven strong customer service and phone skills with an exceptional ability to listen and communicate with others.
- Experience in a healthcare or insurance environment preferred.
- Previous CNA or Medical Assistant experience preferred.

- Ability to effectively communicate and prioritize duties.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work well whether independently or as part of a team.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an ambulatory surgery center setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk; sit; use hands to grasp or handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. Employee must be able to sit for at least 20% of time and stand for up to 80% of time. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation & Work Schedule:
- Full-time: 40 hours/week.
- Non-Exempt.
- Day Shift: Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4:00PM.
- No evenings or weekends.
