    Job Summary:

    The Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep our clinics running smoothly. The Medical Assistant’s task list includes, but is not limited to:

    • Greet and room patients in a prompt, friendly, and professional manner to prepare them for their visit.

    • Perform clinical intake interview with patients to include health history, allergies, and reconciling medication lists. Obtaining vital signs as needed. Accurately updating patient’s electronic medical record.

    • Narcotic counts.

    • Assist patients as needed with escorting their belongings, walking, and transfers.

    • Order lab tests under the direction of the provider and per company protocol.

    • Obtain limited lab specimens such as urine, saliva, blood, and nasal swab collection.

    • Prepare lab samples for transport.

    • Ensure proper storage of biohazardous materials.

    • Clean exam rooms and supplies between patient visits to maintain infection control.

    • Generate patient informed consent forms, review forms with patient, and obtain patient signed consent for injections or procedures.

    • Prepares injectable medications and assists with clinic injections as needed.

    • Dispenses prescriptions and/or over the counter product samples as directed.

    • Manage inventory and stock medications and supplies; assist with packing, stocking, and transport of supplies within the clinic.

    • The Clinical Assistant may work at any of the Twin Cities Pain Clinic locations depending on the staffing needs.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.

    • Complies with organizational and HIPAA policies and regulations to ensure patient care is kept confidential.

    • Cross trains and works in other areas of the clinic to support departments and staff as needed.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications:

    • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Previous medical/healthcare experience preferred but not required! All training is provided on site.

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Proficient in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
    • Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
    • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
    • Detail oriented.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Ability to work well whether alone or as part of a team.

    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clinic setting. Edina will be the primary work location, but the employee may be asked to travel to other clinic locations in Maple Grove, Chaska, Burnsville, Woodbury, and Maplewood.

The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    Compensation & Work Schedule:

    • Full-time: 40 hours/week.
    • Non-Exempt.
    • Day Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM OR 8:30AM-5:00PM.
    • No evenings or weekends.
