    POSITION DESCRIPTION UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) is a diversified health and well-being company dedicated to helping people live healthier lives and making health care work better. With headquarters in Minnetonka, MN, and currently Fortune 5, UnitedHealth Group offers a broad spectrum of products and services through two distinct platforms: UnitedHealthcare, which provides health care coverage and benefits services and Optum, which provides information and technology-enabled health services. We currently have openings for summer interns. Our summer program runs for 8 weeks. Interns will be placed in one of our legal departments located in either Minnetonka or Eden Prairie, Minnesota and will handle a variety of legal projects to meet business unit needs. Candidates will participate in our enterprise-wide summer intern program. Please note that we do not currently hire full-time positions straight out of law school. 1L APPLICANTS PREFERRED. You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college / university
    • Must be currently enrolled in law school with a minimum of 1 year law school experience by summer 2020
    • Strong academic performance
    • Must be willing to work from corporate offices in Minnesota
    • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong writing, research, analytical and communication skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-output team-oriented, practical environment
    • Ability to evaluate and recommend appropriate legal course of action to meet business unit needs
    • Provide sound, proactive, fact-based advice
