    Innovative Medicine, a division of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting an Intern, in Innovative Medicine R&D Data Sciences. The R&D Data Science team within Innovative Medicine is driven to meaningfully change the trajectory of disease with transformational medicines to advance the care of patients in the communities we serve. The team utilizes a diverse set of data and tools, along with platform solutions to answer impactful analytical questions and inform key projects from discovery all the way through late development. This role is hybrid and sits within the Data visualization and design team which provides domain-rich data expertise on-demand across multiple disease areas.

    Position Components

    In this role, you will

    • Understand how data is ingested from Amazon Redshift to the RDS database, ensuring a smooth transition and integration for effective data utilization in web applications.
    • Understanding data pipelines, ETL processes, and data modeling.
    • Responsible for the delivery of engaging and innovative data products, such as dashboards and web applications.
    • Understand in utilizing Agile (Scrum or Kanban) methodologies.
    • Coordinate internally to manage project intake. Prioritize projects within the team, ensuring a good balance of tasks so that high quality work is delivered timely.
    • Coordinate internally to create robust documentation for each project use case.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Be currently pursuing a degree in computer science, bioinformatics, engineering, or related degrees.
    • Possess a strong understanding of Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Informatics or related field as demonstrated by current or prior coursework.
    • Proficient in SQL with the ability to manipulate and query large datasets effectively, ensuring data readiness for AI applications.
    • Possess strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills (technical and/or business).

    Preferred:

    • Coursework or background in computer science, information systems, biomedical engineering, and other life sciences.
    • Have prior experience through other internships/jobs with hands-on data engineering and data science.
    • Prior independent or classroom research experience on a data-focused project.
    • Experience with relevant disease biology in cancer, immunology, and neuroscience disease.
    • Programming skills in Python for data manipulation, analysis, and automation tasks.
