    Job Description

    DePuy Synthes' Sales Training Representative (STR) Program is a 12-month development experience designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to begin a successful sales career in the medical device industry. We are recruiting for Sales Training Representatives to join our January and June 2024 classes.

    The STRs will be based out of a DePuy Synthes headquarters location (Raynham, MA, West Chester, PA, or Warsaw, IN) for 12 months before being placed in a junior level field-based sales role. STRs will be hired for a specific business unit (Spine, Trauma, Sports Medicine, Joint Reconstruction, Craniomaxillofacial, Foot & Ankle) and sales geography. Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to build connections with multiple cross-functional partners and learn from top sales trainers and sales representatives.

    As a member of the Commercial Education team and extension of the field sales organization, STRs will help execute training programs, facilitate labs, support professional education events, and participate in other ongoing customer engagement activities. Pivotal to success will be the ability to develop the clinical and business acumen necessary to meet the needs of our customers.

    After the initial 12-month development period, and with demonstrated proficiency to work within the sales organization, the STR must relocate (with company relocation assistance) to assigned territory for the transition to an associate level field-based sales role. The majority of time in the sales role will be spent in the hospital setting and surgeon offices. The goal of the program is to prepare STRs for future sales responsibilities including:

    • Providing clinical and logistical expertise in hospitals and operating rooms
    • Covering surgical cases in the operating room, providing clinical and technical product support to orthopedic surgeons
    • Coordinating equipment required for surgeries, assuring that the proper equipment is available and functioning
    • Providing logistical support related to hospital billing and replenishment
    • Working in close partnership with sales consultants and management
    • Assisting DePuy Synthes sales organization in retaining and supporting further penetration with existing customers, while supporting product conversions with new customers.

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of a Bachelor's or Master's Degree attained from an accredited university/college by the start date is required.
    • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 based upon 4.0 scale is required.
    • Ability to start work on a full-time basis by either January 2024 or June 2024 is required.
    • Sales, Engineering, Life Science or Business academic major is preferred.
    • Completion of school-sponsored selling skills program is preferred.
    • Experience in retail and/or customer service is preferred.
    • Proven track record of academic success and demonstrated leadership in campus and community service activities is preferred.
    • By the start of the STR Program, relocation (with company relocation assistance) to the designated home office in Raynham, Massachusetts, West Chester, Pennsylvania or Warsaw, Indiana is required.
    • STR will be hired for a specific business unit and sales geography. After completion of the STR Program, relocation (with company relocation assistance) to that aligned geography is required.
    • After program completion, the sales role requires extensive travel within territory with the possibility of weekend work and/or limited overnight travel. Sales consultants are required to be on call 24 hours to respond to the needs of our customers.
    • Ability and willingness to travel within the United States for multiple weeks at a time is required.
    • A valid driver's license issued in the United States
    • Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future, is required.
