Eligibility Specialist I / Regional Adoption Assistance Eligibility Specialist The position determines eligibility for adoption assistance using application forms, necessary documents listed on adoption assistance checklist, collateral contacts, and data entry on appropriate automated system. The position interprets policies for staff, assumes administrative tasks including training, special projects and reports, updated eligibility status in the states automated software program (IMPACT) and accesses TIERS system for information verification. The position interacts routinely with Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworkers, program directors, state office program specialists, and other agency staff throughout the United States. Essential Job Functions: · Initiates and tracks adoption assistance applications and renewals. · Handles all inquiries for foster home and adoption. · Performs eligibility determinations for children. · Serves as member of the regional adoption subsidy committee. · Obtains information from adoptive parents and notifies them of adoption subsidy committee decision. · Extensively works in IMPACT and interacts regularly with State Office fiscal division. · Reviews and processes Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) documents for Medicaid eligibility on children in custody of another state who are placed for adoption in Texas. · Reviews and processes all non-recurring adoption expense applications for payments. · Verifies children for post adoption services. · Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations, including maintaining all adoption subsidy files. · Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers and all work-related contacts. · Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.
