    The Internship Program is a full-time, 10-12 week program focused on providing graduate students with practical experience in data science and real-world data analysis. During the internship, the participant will engage in a project-based assignment that offers opportunities to expand knowledge and experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and presentation of real-world evidence in optometry and ophthalmology.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Learn about data science applications in the medical devices industry through mentorship and conversations with senior data scientists and business leaders.
    • Engage in data cleaning, analysis, and interpretation of real-world evidence related to ophthalmic products and treatment outcomes.
    • Conduct exploratory data analysis and develop reporting dashboards to communicate findings effectively.
    • Contribute to the design and implementation of studies that assess the effectiveness of ophthalmic solutions based on real-world data.
    • Enhance skills in statistical modeling and visualization using tools like R or Python.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Current enrollment in an accredited College/University is required.
    • Candidates must have completed at least 1 year of graduate studies in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, or related fields.
    • A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required.

    Requirements:

    • Intermediate knowledge of programming languages such as Python and/or R.
    • Familiarity with data science platforms (e.g., Databricks, Dataiku, Snowflake, etc.) and data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Tableau, Power BI)
    • Open to learning new data science skills and able to think creatively for problem-solving solutions.
    • Proficient in English, both verbal and written communication.
    • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
    • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1-B status) now or in the future.
    • Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the internship period.

    Preferred:

    • Candidates nearing the end of their graduate program (Master’s or PhD) are desirable.
    • Experience with real-world data analytics, machine learning techniques, and computer vision is a plus.
    • Previous experience within healthcare, e.g. ophthalmology or optometry fields.
