Prepares and dispenses medications to patients. Assesses the appropriateness of the physician's medication orders. Provides accurate and appropriate drug information to health care professionals. Coordinates or performs functions detailed in the compounding and dispensing procedures. Provides care to patients of varying ages with age related needs.
Required Skills
- Knowledge and experience with UD, I.V. additives and therapeutics.
- Knowledge of law, regulations, and accreditation standards related to the distribution and control of scheduled and non-scheduled drugs and pharmacy security.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff and patients.
Required Experience
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- No previous work experience required.
- Preferably one (1) or more years work experience in a Pediatric Hospital.
LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Current License Pharmacist in the State of Texas.
- Preceptor competent within one year of hire, for existing employees within one year of signing job description
- CPR, PALS required
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Graduation from accredited School of Pharmacy
- 12 hours of ACPE approved continuing education per year.
