    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Endoscopic Technician - Perioperative Services - Full Time, Days (9AM - 5PM, Monday - Friday) - NSG-.

    In this role, the successful candidate The Endoscopic Technician is a support staff person who assists the Professional/Technical team in caring for and in providing Perioperative patients with a clean and safe environment by focusing on the care/maintenance/decontamination/sterilization and aseptic procedure set up of Endoscopes and case specific acquisition of supplies for intra operative use

    Job Responsibilities:

    Demonstrates Universal Precautions in the cleaning/decontamination/contain/disposal of blood/body fluids and appropriate use of PPE

    Inspects cleans decontaminates disinfects and/or sterilizes Flexible Endoscopes according to manufacturer #39;s specification and/or Perioperative policy

    Ensures that all scopes are secured and stored in a safe manner

    Utilizes cleaning aids and resources to maintain equipment in optimum condition

    Takes initiative in tracking inventory and requisitioning the appropriate accessories and adapters

    Reports trouble shoots and/or implements corrective actions related to malfunctioning Endoscopes promptly

    Participates in diagnostic/biological surveillance regimen specified by unit being tested and according to OR policy and procedure

    Monitors/requisitions supplies needed to perform surveillance ie: test strips indicators biological media solutions printing paper filters etc

    Rotates stock and monitors expiration dates nbsp;

    Participates in the daily inspection and maintenance of units ie: check for cracked lids/inserts blackened filters kinked lines water pooling inside bin or leaks

    Changes filters or printing paper when indicated

    Accurately documents files and boxes for storage related activity monitors and daily cycle logs of respective units

    Maintains utility room and work areas clean neat and free of safety hazards

    Reports trouble shoots and/or implements corrective actions related to malfunctioning units promptly

    Ensures that Endoscopes have been reprocessed as per OR policy and procedure prior to patient use

    Escort transport position lift and hold patients in a safe and therapeutic manner

    Prompt and appropriate responses to changes in patient condition

    Provides alert and attentive support in actual or potential emergency situations ie: procurement of supplies preparing room/equipment in advance

    Practices aseptic technique with sterile processing transport and handling of sterilized items

    Participates in team effort to maintain a clean well stocked and orderly environment of care

    Reliably efficient with patient care tasks ie: admissions process accuracy in relaying messages in conducting errands

    Cooperates in adjusting work schedule in order to meet unit needs and provide patient care support

    Collaborates with unit manager or charge nurse in determining priorities

    Accurate and thorough in quot;Picking Cases quot; or quot;Table Setup Preparation quot; that is case specific and/or as indicated by surgical preference card

    Prepares table setups that are well organized neatly arranged and fully equipped for intra op use and post op decontamination

    Participates in quot;room turnover quot; cleaning/preparation and in setting up of equipment for following case

    Participates in monitoring requisitioning and restocking of CSR items drape cart and linen supplies

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a High School diploma or equivalency Endoscope Reprocessing Certification within 6 months of employment BLS Certification from AHA only Prior Operating Room Central Sterile Outpatient Endoscopic training and/or experience Mature interpersonal skills Detail oriented with strong organizational skills in management of time and priorities Physical fitness to move/manipulate heavy instrument carts carry trays with a maximum load of 28lbs and the stamina to walk stand 90 of the time.

    Required Licenses: Cert Endoscope Reprocessor

    Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $45,732.00 - $59,670.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

  • Qualifications
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Primavera
    • Experience with BIM, GradeBeam, and Bluebeam is preferred
    • OSHA 30 hour certification preferred
