    We are searching for the best talent for an Experienced Scientist, Large-Scale Development & Operations Downstream to be in Malvern, PA.

    Purpose: The candidate for this position will work as a member of a small team to perform scale-up/scale-down development of therapeutic biologics with strong emphasis on API proteins within the Large-Scale Development & Operations downstream (DSP) group in Malvern, PA. The candidate’s primary responsibilities will include pilot-scale DSP operations execution, DSP data acquisition and modeling, and optimizing the process steps to be representative of the target process scale to ensure right first-time technical transfers.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Pilot-scale and laboratory work with chromatographic purification and several types of filtration systems
    • Record and analyze data, verify data integrity and accuracy, and report/summarize findings to the project development teams
    • Design experiments to optimize DSP operations within the Large-Scale Development & Operations DSP group to ensure that they are representative of internal and external manufacturing sites
    • Draft technical documents, SOPs, and work instructions
    • Work in a team environment as well as contributing individually to meet project timelines and objectives

    Qualifications / Requirements:

    Education:

    • Minimum of BS in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering or related degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience is required.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with DSP purification (chromatography, filtration) of protein therapeutics (such as antibodies) is required.
    • Experience with scale-up/down technical transfers of DSP processes, and/or execution at pilot or manufacturing scales for biologics manufacture is required.
    • The candidate must be highly organized and capable of managing/pursuing multiple projects with minimal supervision.
    • Experience maintaining written records of work in the form of (electronic) notebooks, technical reports and protocols is required.

    Preferred:

    • Exposure to analytical method development for in-process methods is preferred.
    • Experience in fostering team collaboration, motivating team members, and achieving project goals within a small group setting as a matrix leader is preferred.
