Job Description
The Substance Use Counselor II is a vital part of the multidisciplinary treatment team. This role focuses on evaluating patients and coordinating both individual and group counseling sessions. Key responsibilities include patient education, behavior modification, and relapse prevention.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a full range of clinical counseling services for patients.
- Demonstrate leadership in clinical practice, professional development, service quality, and unit operations.
- Participate in or develop performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the education and development of Counselor I and interns.
- Lead activities to promote Joint Commission readiness and ongoing monitoring.
- Participate in unit-based research activities, councils, or committees to enhance the quality of counseling practice.
- Develop interest in a service specialty by engaging in or creating opportunities in the specialty.
- Pursue membership in professional organizations and demonstrate active participation.
- Support and comply with the University of Maryland’s mission, vision, values, philosophy, goals, objectives, and policies.
- Identify areas impacting unit operations and assist in developing and implementing action plans.
- Contribute to the development of unit-based peer review processes and actively participate in peer feedback and case reviews.
