    Job Summary

    The Hospital Facility Engineer will assist in the responsibility for overseeing and maintaining the physical plant, infrastructure, and medical equipment of PMC. The Engineer will work with the Plant Operations Manager to ensure that all facilities comply with local, state and federal safety regulations and codes. This will include the planning, design and training for a replacement facility, working with the design and construction teams, contractors, inspectors, Plant Operations Manager and PMC CEO. The Engineer will assist in the process, workflows and preventive maintenance programs and staff training.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the hospital's physical plant, infrastructure, and mechanical equipment.
    • Plan and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and safety of all hospital facilities.
    • Assist in the coordination with outside contractors and vendors to complete repairs and maintenance projects as needed.
    • Ensure that all hospital facilities comply with local, state and federal safety standards and codes, as well as policies for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
    • Develop and implement programs for new facility mechanicals, ensuring that they are knowledgeable and skilled in maintaining and operating hospital facilities.
    • Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement energy conservation programs and sustainability.
    • Assist in the development of a comprehensive inventory of all hospital equipment and assets.
    • Assist in the management of the hospital's safety and emergency preparedness programs, including fire drills, hazardous materials management and other safety related activities.
    • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on all hospital facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical and other mechanical system.
    • Assist in providing accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, repairs and upgrades.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Operators Engineering Program Certificate / License or equivalent. Two years of experience as a facilities engineer, equipment operator or mechanic preferred. Healthcare setting preferred but not necessary.

    • Knowledge and / or willingness to receive training for local, state, and federal safety regulations and codes, as well as policies for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
    • Experience in energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software applications.
    • Ability to work flexible hours and be on call for emergencies.
    • Must be able to pass a State of Alaska background check and drug screen (including Marijuana).

    Work Conditions

    • Must be physically able to perform required lifting, bending, stooping and crawling.
    • Must be able to handle responsibility of call-out and respond in a timely fashion.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

    Accountability

    This position reports to the Plant Operations Manager.
